Course Schedule for Tuscan Cooking

Day 1
Arrival Florence airport - we can arrange transfer to and from Florence airport on request. Check-in at the villa begins at 4:00pm. Welcome dinner- introduction by the chef and get acquainted with fellow students.

Day 2
Breakfast is served at the villa. About 1pm- light lunch for those who are not sightseeing. About 3pm- Hands-on cooking lesson begins- you prepare a four-course meal. Dinner- Dine on your creations accompanied by delicious Tuscan wines that compliment the dishes.

Day 3
Buffet breakfast is served
- Relax or sightseeing to la Verna
or enjoy the pool or take a walk. About1pm- Light lunch is served. About 3pm- Hands-on cooking lesson begins. Prepare a four-course meal and at dinner you will dine on your creations.

Day 4
Breakfast. Begin full-day excursion. Visits to salami factory, sheep and goat farm that produces pecorino cheese. Lunch at wine estate includes wine tasting: Chianti, Super Tuscans, other local white and red wines, plus vin santo. Olive oil mill and oil tasting. City visit to Arezzo for shopping and sightseeing (we love the frescoes by Piero della Francesca). Visit to a wood restorer's workshop. Then off to a Tuscan textile manufacturer in Anghiari that weaves elegant cotton and jacquards for the home — on the same equipment for more than a century. Dinner near Poppi with a beautiful view of the Castello (Castle)

Day 5
Breakfast. Morning at leisure. Lunch. About 3pm- hands-on cooking lesson. You prepare a four-course dinner. Dinner- dine on your creations accompanied by fine Tuscan wines.

Day 6
Breakfast. Free time to do sightseeing to San Gimignano, Montepulciano or Siena or enjoy the lovely villa, pool, and hot tub.An ideal day to make a trip to Florence for shopping and sight seeing. Or visit La Verna and its ancient monastery where St. Francis of Assisi lived most of his life. Dinner reservations can be made at a restaurant of your choice.

Day 7
Breakfast. Morning of leisure. Optional light lunch. About 3pm begin hands-on cooking lesson. Prepare an elaborate buffet dinner using all the cooking techniques that you mastered during the week plus some new tricks. Presentation of food will is demonstrated, too. Grand finale dinner. You will be presented with a certificate of attendance.

Final Day
Breakfast and departure with your cookbook, apron, certificate, and new skills.


SCHEDULE OF COURSES

The cooking week in Casa Ombuto is held from Saturday to Saturday. Torre del Tartufo is in session from Sunday to Sunday. You will have cooking lessons on four of those days. Class size varies from 8-12 students.

Note these extras, too: On Monday morning you will bake focaccia and make a French lunch. On Wednesday morning you will make a Spanish lunch that includes paella. MMMM!
